Maruti Suzuki Victoris scored an impressive 33.72 out of 34 points in adult occupant protection and earned 41.00 out of 49 points in child occupant protection test
The Maruti Suzuki Victoris, a new midsize SUV designed and manufactured in India, has achieved the coveted 5-star safety rating in the latest round of Global NCAP crash tests. This result places the Victoris among the safest vehicles currently available for Indian customers and one of the safest from the country’s largest carmaker.
In the adult occupant protection category, the Victoris scored an impressive 33.72 out of 34 points. Crash test data revealed that protection for the driver’s and passenger’s head, neck and knees was consistently rated as good. The driver’s chest received an adequate rating, while the passenger’s chest protection was deemed good.
Lower leg protection was also strong with only the driver’s right tibia registering an adequate level. Importantly, both the bodyshell and footwell area were rated stable, meaning the structure can withstand further loading in severe impacts. Child safety performance was equally noteworthy. The Victoris earned 41.00 out of 49 points – thanks to robust restraint systems and crash protection.

In the tests, both the 18-month-old and 3-year-old dummies were seated rearward facing in Britax Dualfix + Vario Base child restraint systems, mounted using ISOFIX anchorages and a support leg. In both frontal and side impact tests, these seats provided full protection, giving the Victoris a perfect 24/24 score in dynamic testing and a 12/12 CRS installation score.
The five-seater also performed strongly in side impact assessments. In the movable deformable barrier test, protection was rated as good for the head, abdomen and pelvis while the chest was rated adequate. In the side pole test, all body regions including the head and chest achieved good ratings. It further reinforced the Victoris’ credentials as a structurally sound and well-protected SUV.

On the safety assist front, the Victoris comes equipped with a long list of features. Standard equipment includes Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Seat Belt Reminders (SBRs) for all seating positions, and ISOFIX anchorages for child seats. Advanced driver-assist systems such as Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) for city, inter-urban and pedestrian scenarios as well as Lane Assist and Speed Assist Systems are also available.
However, the SUV does not offer a passenger airbag cut-off switch, limiting flexibility for installing rearward-facing child seats in the front. Pedestrian safety was another area where the Victoris excelled – meeting the UN127 regulatory standards. Combined with strong ratings in both adult and child occupant protection, it helped the SUV secure a place in the top tier of Global NCAP-tested models. With its dual 5-star ratings for adults and children, the Victoris adds to the growing list of ultra safe passenger cars produced in India.
