Here’s a breakdown of the five upcoming midsize SUVs set to make their way to Indian showrooms over the next six to nine months
The midsize SUV space is gearing up for a flurry of activity with several manufacturers preparing new launches over the coming six to nine months. The competition is set to intensify as brands including Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Mahindra, Renault and Nissan bring in their latest offerings to claim a bigger slice of the market. Here’s a snapshot of what lies ahead.
1. Maruti Suzuki Victoris:
Maruti Suzuki is all set to announce the prices of the recently unveiled Victoris soon in India. Official bookings have already commenced at Arena dealerships and it will be retailed with 1.5L mild-hybrid petrol and 1.5L strong hybrid petrol engine options with a CNG iteration and AWD trim. It has secured five stars in GNCAP and is packed with features as well.
2. New Gen Renault Duster:
Renault is readying the next generation Duster for its India return with a market launch likely around early 2026. Unlike its predecessor, the upcoming SUV will sit on the CMF-B+ modular platform which is being localised. While petrol engines are expected to be offered at the start, the bigger news is the potential addition of hybrid powertrain tech down the line.

3. Nissan Midsize SUV:
Renault is working on expanding its lineup with a compact MPV based on the Triber’s platform followed by a new midsize SUV. Positioned as a modern day replacement for the long-discontinued Terrano, this SUV will share its CMF-B+ underpinnings with the upcoming Duster – inheriting several design and mechanical elements. A launch is expected sometime in H1 2026.
4. New Tata Sierra:
Tata Motors is gearing up to revive the iconic Sierra badge – beginning with an all-electric version slated for launch before the end of this financial year. Following the debut of the zero-emission model, Tata will introduce the petrol and diesel variants of the midsize SUV.

5. Mahindra XUV700 Facelift:
Mahindra & Mahindra is in the midst of developing a facelift for the XUV700 with its arrival expected in early 2026. While not a ground-up overhaul, the update will introduce subtle styling tweaks, a refreshed interior layout and a more advanced feature list. However, the same 2.0L petrol and 2.2L diesel engines will stay put/
