The electric version of the Tata Sierra is expected to go on sale first before the closure of this FY before the ICE variant

The reborn Tata Sierra made its public debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 instantly grabbing headlines in its production form. Spy shots over the past few months have kept the SUV in the news as test mules continue to be spotted across the country. Tata is preparing to bring the Sierra to showrooms either by early 2026 with the electric version lined up to go on sale before the petrol and diesel-powered models.

Up front, the new Sierra gets a horizontal grille paired with slim headlamps and a full-width LED light bar complemented by aggressive bumper openings. Moving to the rear, its rather flat profile is finished with a sleek tail lamp strip, an integrated spoiler and a heavily styled bumper. The blacked out roof merges with the panoramic sunroof creating a floating roof look.

Thanks to its tall pillars, raked windshield and long wheelbase, the cabin is expected to feel airy and roomy. Sculpted wheel arches and flush-fitting door handles will also be available. The EV and ICE versions will have minor visual differences amongst themselves and the latter could be positioned to compete with a barrage of popular midsize SUVs including Hyundai Creta and Mahindra XUV700.

As for the pricing, it could be slotted just above the Curvv as Rs. 12 lakh to 23 lakh (ex-showroom) range could be targetted. The electric version of the Tata Sierra is expected to come equipped with DC fast charging support and bidirectional tech including Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) power transfer.

Although Tata has yet to confirm whether it will carry over the Harrier EV’s dual-motor setup and lifetime battery warranty, both remain strong possibilities. A driving range of more than 500 km is also on the cards. On the inside, the SUV will come with a 12.3-inch infotainment unit, a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster and an additional 12.3-inch driver-focused display.

Key equipment should include Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, a four-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo, terrain drive modes and a host of other premium touches. For the ICE lineup, Tata is expected to gain a new 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine tuned to deliver 168 PS and 280 Nm of torque.

It will be sold alongside the 2.0-litre diesel that produces around 170 PS and 350 Nm. Transmission options should include both a six-speed manual and a six-speed torque converter automatic.
