Tata Harrier EV has received 24 out of 24 in child occupant and 45 points out of 49 in adult occupant protection tests in Bharat NCAP crash test assessments
Tata’s battery-powered Harrier has received a five-star safety score in Bharat NCAP’s crash evaluations, edging past its diesel-engined counterpart in the process. Where the ICE version previously notched up 30.08 points in adult protection, the EV has now recorded a full 32 out of 32. The SUV aced both the frontal offset deformable barrier and side movable barrier crash tests, collecting 16 points in each of the two categories.
According to the crash test documentation, the adult occupant protection for the driver and front passenger remained consistently rated as ‘good’ across various impact scenarios – frontal, side barrier and the more demanding side pole tests. The structural safety and restraint performance contributed to the electric SUV’s stronger adult occupant score compared to its internal combustion sibling.
In terms of child safety, the Harrier EV also walked away with an impressive 45 points out of 49. The child occupant dynamic tests yielded a perfect 24 out of 24 while the rearward-facing i-Size seat installations for 18-month-old and 3-year-old dummies secured the full 12 out of 12. The only deduction came from the broader vehicle assessment criteria where the EV secured 9 out of 13.
