Mahindra Prepares A Major Product Push

Mahindra is working to introduce a number of new models across different segments over the next 5 years

Mahindra is planning to introduce an assortment of new vehicles across different price brackets by 2030 in the Indian market. As many as 23 new vehicles were said to be under development during an investor meeting one year ago. Between this financial year and the next, the homegrown manufacturer is investing a total of up to Rs. 27,000 crore.

The brand’s roadmap to 2030 is gradually taking shape and recent launches such as the XUV 3XO, Thar Roxx, BE 6 and XEV 9e have sped up the momentum. The SUV maker now has seven internal combustion offerings and five fully-electric vehicles yet to be revealed from its new product range for the remainder of the decade and some of the models have already been caught testing.

The new Bolero Neo, electric version of the XUV 3XO, XUV.e8 concept based XEV 7e, a more rugged off-road based variant of the BE 6, updated XUV 700 and three-door Thar are being tested on public roads. A key piece of that future will be formally introduced in August. As has been the case in recent years, Mahindra showcases its future plans and associated interests on August 15 and this year won’t be any different.

Mahindra has confirmed that it will showcase an all-new vehicle architecture on the 78th Indian Independence Day. The upcoming platform, expected to be called the New Flexible Architecture, will be revealed at the brand’s new Chakan facility and it will more likely play a central role in underpinning multiple future models.

The monocoque structure will support a range of propulsion types – internal combustion, hybrid, and battery electric – suggesting that Mahindra is laying the groundwork for a diversified powertrain future. Reports indicate that the INGLO skateboard platform will be re-engineered to adapt a range extender hybrid powertrain for the XEV 9e and BE 6.

In addition, popular nameplates such as Scorpio and Bolero are set to be electrified and the Thar.e concept had already been displayed. The INGLO platform will be leveraged further to expand its premium zero-emission portfolio further.
