The upcoming midsize electric offering is expected to be offered in two battery options with the claimed range going north of 450 km per charge
Kia India will host the debut of its first midsize electric vehicle in India in the form of the Carens Clavis EV on July 15, 2025. It is yet unknown what the nameplate it will carry or any suffix will follow the Clavis name but what we do know is that it will be based on the Carens Clavis ICE which was introduced in India a few weeks ago.
The ICE Kia Clavis, positioned above the standard Carens, brought with it a host of updates both on the exterior and within the cabin. The electric derivative is expected to inherit much of the same features and technologies, though minor design tweaks will likely set it apart visually from its standard counterpart.
Subtle cosmetic revisions such as a redesigned front end with reshaped LED DRLs and updated alloy wheels are expected to distinguish the electric Clavis from its IC-engined sibling. Underneath, the EV could draw heavily from the recently launched Creta Electric, sharing key components like the battery layout and electric drivetrain.

The electric Clavis could benefit from its roomy cabin, flexible three-row seating layout and a generous equipment list. While the basic dashboard, touchscreen, steering wheel and centre stack are expected to remain familiar, surface materials may see some tweaks. With no real rival currently present in the midsize electric MPV category, the Clavis EV might find itself filling a unique void.
The Creta Electric’s battery options, the 42 kWh and the 51.4 kWh units, offer claimed ranges of up to 390 km and 473 km respectively. Since the Clavis EV is likely to share this hardware, those figures could dip marginally owing to its larger footprint and added mass. A more realistic estimate for the Clavis EV would be just north of 450 km on a full charge.

Kia’s compact electric portfolio is set to expand with the Syros EV, expected to arrive sometime in 2026. Positioned to rival the Tata Punch EV, the upcoming e-SUV will target the more accessible end of the market. While details remain under wraps, the Syros EV is expected to sit below the Seltos in size and pricing.
