Hero MotoCorp’s Vida has introduced the VX2 electric scooter in two configurations in India – VX2 Go and VX2 Plus and as expected they appeal to a wider band of customers. They can either be bought outright or opt for the brand’s Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) subscription which starts at Rs. 0.96 per kilometre. The BaaS-enabled VX2 Go carries a starting price of Rs. 59,490 while the VX2 Plus starts at Rs. 64,990 (both ex-showroom).

Buyers preferring full ownership without subscription will pay Rs. 99,490 for the VX2 Go and Rs. 1,09,990 for the Plus variant. Both variant feature removable batteries – a 2.2 kWh unit in the Go and 3.4 kWh in the Plus – delivering an IDC certified riding range of 92 km and 142 km respectively. Fast charging takes the battery to eighty per cent in an hour while three-way charging support helps adaptability at home or on the move.

The scooter’s design retains the familiar Vida silhouette while introducing seven colour choices. A wide seat accommodates two adults with ease according to the brand and 12-inch wheels have been fitted for a more planted ride feel across different surface conditions. The VX2 Go also offers a boot volume of 33.2 litres with battery removed which is said to be good enough for a full-face helmet.

Both screens are paired with smartphone syncing and support firmware updates over the air.

The list of safety features extend to an Emergency Stop Signal, Fall Safe system and Tow & Theft Alerts. Vida’s Alexa integration remains on offer and AutoHold has been carried over from its larger siblings. Meanwhile, BaaS subscribers receive complimentary battery replacements if health falls below 70 per cent and gain access to Vida’s national fast-charging grid which currently features over 3,600 charging points.
