Amidst the inevitable festive season demand, the GST-led price reduction could help Mahindra drive high sales momentum for the Thar Roxx. The GST 2.0 rollout has flipped the script for India’s car market with passenger vehicle prices finally seeing meaningful cuts after years of constant hikes. Carmakers are responding quickly to the revised slabs which slash GST on small petrol and diesel cars under four metres to 18 per cent while midsize models now fall under a 40 per cent bracket.

For buyers, this means a wide range of hatchbacks, compact sedans and SUVs have become more affordable. The biggest relief comes in the diesel compact SUV space where models such as the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV 3XO are recording their sharpest drops yet.

Large SUVs and premium cars also benefit with GST capped at 40 per cent instead of the earlier 48 to 50 per cent plus cess. The industry is eyeing record volumes in the festive months ahead. Manufacturers have been quick to announce new price lists while dealers are gearing up for heavier showroom activity as well.

We will continue to monitor these official updates as they arrive – making it the right time for prospective buyers to keep an eye on the action.
