The Carens Clavis EV will be at loggerheads with BYD eMax 7 which is sold in a price bracket of Rs 26.90-29.90 lakh (ex-showroom) in the Indian market

Kia Carens Clavis EV is all set to debut on July 15, 2025 in the Indian market. However, ahead of the official launch, the South-Korean automaker has released the official range figures of the seven-seater MPV in a teaser video shared across its various social media handles. The Carens Clavis EV will deliver a driving range of 490 km on a full charge. Being the company’s first-ever mass-market EV in India, it will directly rival BYD eMax 7 which is priced between Rs 26.90-29.90 lakh (ex-showroom).

Design-wise, Kia Carens Clavis electric will be identical to its ICE sibling, barring a few EV-specific minor updates such as restyled front and rear bumpers, newly-designed alloy wheels and a charging port at the front among others. The suspension setup is also likely to be different than the ICE version to accommodate the extra weight of the battery and electric motors.

The cabin of the Carens Clavis EV is also expected to be on the similar lines as the ICE model. It will be available with a dual-tone dashboard, albeit with different colours for the upholstery. The same 12.3-inch twin-screen setup consisting of the central touchscreen infotainment system and digital instrument cluster will also be retained.

The Carens Clavis EV will borrow the 42kWh and 51.4kWh battery packs from Hyundai Creta Electric. They will be assisted by an electric motor mounted on the front axle. The power and torque figures could be similar to the Creta EV. However, the performance could be partially on the lower side due to the extended length of the MPV as compared to the all-electric Creta.
