India Tour Of Bangladesh Might Get Cancelled: In a major development regarding India’s tour of Bangladesh next month, the entire tour could be called off for non-cricketing reasons.

India are scheduled to tour Bangladesh for three ODIs and three T20Is. The six white-ball matches are slated to be played from August 17 to 31 in Dhaka and Chattogram.

However, now both white-ball series have come under the cloud, with the tour uncertain to go ahead. The tour could get canceled entirely, and not just postponed.

Why India Tour Of Bangladesh Might Get Cancelled

It has been reported by Cricbuzz that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) paused the sale of its media rights for the six white-ball matches they are slotted to host against India.

Any tour of India brings in huge money for the host nation’s board. Despite that, if the media rights sale has not been done yet, this indicates that the tour is unlikely to go as planned.

“We will continue, we will take time to research the market. There is no point in rushing things. We can give different contracts,” a BCB official told Cricbuzz.

Why India’s Tour Of Bangladesh For 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is In August Might Get Cancelled?

Due to the deteriorating diplomatic relations between India and Bangladesh, India’s tour of Bangladesh in August, which comprises six white-ball games, is “effectively off,” says a report in Cricbuzz. “The date for the India series hasn’t been fixed yet. They (the BCCI) said it’s difficult for them to come in August. This is part of FTP,” a BCB official was quoted as saying.

The BCB are now only selling their media rights for the T20I series against Pakistan.

“They have informed us that there is no India series. After announcing the tender, they did not provide the ITT. They are selling, for now, only for the Pakistan series,” an Indian broadcaster said to Cricbuzz on Thursday.

The BCCI and the BCB are expected to release an official statement soon.

Further, while it is believed that the government is against bilateral relations with Pakistan and Bangladesh, they have given the green signal for India’s participation against these two countries in multinational competitions. This means that the Asia Cup 2025 is likely to get the nod for September.
