At the toss, Indian Cricket Team captain Shubman Gill announced his 11-man squad for this Test match, and it is an interesting bunch that will represent the Men in Blue in this match. While the overall structure of the team remains somewhat similar, there are a couple of significant changes compared to the squad from the first match of the series.
There are no changes at the top. Yashasvi Jaiswal will open the batting for India alongside KL Rahul. While the Indians lost the match, both scored tons in the first Test.
The first big change comes at number 3. Sai Sudharsan, who made his Test debut in the first game of this series, did not do well on his first outing for India in the whites. He is out of the squad, and in comes Washington Sundar, who will bat a little lower down the order, bringing Karun Nair to No. 3.
Then comes captain Shubman Gill, wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant, and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, three men who played in the first Test as well. Sundar is next, followed by the next change in the squad. Nitish Kumar Reddy replaces Shardul Thakur, who was quite underwhelming in the first Test.

While Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna, despite poor performances in the first Test, retain their position in the team, Jasprit Bumrah is out due to workload management issues, and in comes Akash Deep to round out the visitors’ team for the England vs India Test.
