NOIDA / New Delhi / Varanasi Desk : Professor Dr. Ajeet Kumar Chaturvedi of IIT Kanpur has been appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, for a tenure of three years, according to a communiqué issued today by the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India, at Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi.
As per the official notification, Prof. (Dr.) Chaturvedi will serve as Vice Chancellor for three years or until he attains the age of 70, whichever is earlier, from the date he assumes office.
The position of Vice Chancellor at BHU had been vacant since 7th January 2025.
Prof. Chaturvedi completed his B.Tech. (1986), M.Tech. (1988), and Ph.D. (1995) from the same institute (IIT Kanpur) and was later appointed as a Professor there. He has also served as the Director of IIT Roorkee and IIT Mandi.
