Who Will Be ICC Player Of The Month For July 2025? July 2025 was a stacked month for international cricket. With the summer in full swing in the Northern Hemisphere, almost every major cricketing nation played cricket. And so, there were a lot of awesome performances throughout this month.
In July 2025, Australia took on the West Indies in two Tests out of their three-match series before the Windies faced Pakistan in ODIs. The Men in Green faced off and lost to Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series. South Africa dominated in two Tests against Zimbabwe. But the biggest blockbuster of the month was three of the five Test matches of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy between India and England.
So naturally, when it came to the nominations for the ICC cricketer of the month for July, the list had the presence of both these teams. The three-man shortlist for the award is made up of the Indian Cricket Team captain and batter Shubman Gill, the England Cricket Team captain and all-rounder Ben Stokes, and the South African batting all-rounder Wiaan Mulder.
The question is now. Who will be the ICC Men Player of the Month for July 2025? –
Who Will Be ICC Player Of The Month For July 2025?
Let us start with the third man on the list: South Africa’s Wiaan Mulder had a month to remember, where he broke several records. In the two Test matches against Zimbabwe this month, he scored a staggering 331 runs in three innings with an average of 256.60. In the first Test, he made a fine 147, but it was the second Test that entered his name in the history books.
In the first, and only, South African inning of the match, Mulder scored a mammoth 367*, which is the fifth highest Test score of all time. He could have gone for Brian Lara’s record of 400* but decided not to. The 27-year-old also took seven wickets in two games. So statistically, he should be named player of the month.
However, these achievements came against a weaker side in Zimbabwe. On the other hand, the remaining two nominees starred in the most high-profile series of the year so far, which turned out to be a modern-day classic. And for that reason, the race for being July 2025’s cricketer of the month is a two-horse race between Gill and Stokes.

The Shubman Gill vs Ben Stokes debate is a fiery one. Both men were the best players for their respective teams this month. Let’s start with the Indian Cricket team’s young new captain, leading in a Test series for the first time. He broke several records for batting and captaining this series. And he did his statistical best in the three Tests in July.
In these three matches, out of his 754 runs in this series, Gill made 567 of those. In the second Test of the series in Birmingham, Shubman scored 269 and 161 in the two innings, totalling 430 runs, which is the second most runs a player has ever scored in a Test. He was also named the Player of the Match and led India to their first win in the match.
After missing out with the bat in the third Test at Lord’s, which India lost, Gill made a comeback in the fourth and scored a solid century in the fourth inning, leading the team to a crucial draw.
Meanwhile, Ben Stokes was decent with the bat this month too, scoring 163 runs in the three Tests, and also taking 11 wickets. But most importantly, he led the England Cricket Team to the famous victory at Lord’s and was the Player of the Match for that game. In a close game that England won by 22 runs, Stokes took five wickets across two innings and scored 77 runs.
So, in this Shubman Gill vs Ben Stokes battle, in which Wiaan Mulder is also a part of, who among these men will be named the men’s cricketer of the month? Who will be the ICC player of the month for July 2025?
Well, the obvious answer is Gill, who is also the favourite to win this award. Not only did he lead his team to a win on foreign soil this month and a drawn series at the end of it all, but he was also the best-performing player for his team, breaking several records along the way.
