Volkswagen India has extended complete GST 2.0 benefits as prices have been slashed for Virtus, Taigun and Tiguan R-Line

Volkswagen India has officially released a press statement confirming that it will extend the full benefit of GST 2.0 to its customers – making its entire lineup more affordable starting September 22, 2025. It follows the government’s landmark decision to reduce GST on passenger vehicles – removing the earlier cess and introducing a streamlined tax structure.

The German automaker joins several brands that have already announced price cuts – further intensifying competition in India’s premium and midsize car space. Passenger vehicles that earlier attracted 48–50 per cent GST plus cess are now taxed under a flat 40 per cent slab – positively impacting direct ex-showroom prices across models.

Volkswagen has announced significant benefits across its sedan and SUV portfolio including the Virtus, Taigun and flagship Tiguan R-Line. The Virtus sedan, already a popular choice in the midsize sedan segment, now offers GST-based benefits of up to Rs. 66,900 depending on the variant. The Taigun SUV which competes in the hotly contested midsize SUV space, sees savings of up to Rs. 68,400.

Up to 66,900

Taigun*

Up to 68,400

Tiguan R-Line*

Up to 3,26,900

*Select variants; benefits vary depending on configuration.

However, it is the premium Tiguan R-Line that leads the charge – offering the highest benefit of up to Rs. 3,26,900 – making the fully imported flagship SUV more attractive than ever before. In addition to the GST 2.0 benefits, Volkswagen has also announced attractive festive offers that further sweeten the deal.

Customers can avail of additional savings ranging from Rs. 1.61 lakh on select variants of the Virtus, Rs. 2 lakh on the Taigun and up to Rs. 3 lakh on the Tiguan R-Line. Combined with the GST 2.0 price reductions, these offers provide one of the most lucrative buying opportunities for Volkswagen vehicles in recent years.

While compact petrol and diesel vehicles under four metres with smaller engines now enjoy reduced GST at 18 per cent, larger premium SUVs and sedans are standardised under the 40 per cent slab. Volkswagen’s portfolio falls squarely in the bracket of the latter.

The VW Virtus and Taigun are expected to benefit most in terms of volume growth while the Tiguan R-Line could attract aspirational buyers who had earlier considered the model out of reach.
