Updated Land Rover Defender MY26 To Launch Next Month – Top Changes

2026 Land Rover Defender gets a host of new feature additions and some cosmetic changes while the familiar engine options will stay put

Land Rover is gearing up to launch the Model Year 2026 Defender in India with a series of updates. On the outside, the MY26 Defender features a reworked front bonnet script lending the vehicle a sharper appearance. Complementing this are new textured bonnet inserts and side vent patterns and glossy black wheel centre caps branded with ‘Defender’ wording.

Moving on the inside, the cabin’s versatility has been improved with a sliding and reclining second-row option on the V8 P425 variant to up the comfort levels particularly during extended off-road trips or family outings. A new 13.1-inch touchscreen infotainment screen sits in the middle allowing drivers to manage the majority of key functions at their fingertips.

A 12.3-inch interactive driver display will also be available while a head-up display comes as an option. Safety enhancements include a new driver attention monitor camera that identifies signs of fatigue or distraction. Moving up front, the headlights feature updated graphics when illuminated. At the rear, flush-mounted lights with smoked lenses will be provided too.

The 2026 Land Rover Defender’s interior comfort has also been addressed with Alpine roof lights that diffuse natural illumination throughout the cabin. Customers can select from leather or non-leather seating options while new mats, door seals and loadspace liners are said to simplify maintenance after off-road excursions. It will also get a premium Meridian sound system and features such as CO₂ management for better cabin air quality

The Land Rover Defender in India is currently offered in a choice of three body styles: Defender 90, 110 and 130 with prices starting at around Rs. 98 lakh (ex-showroom) for the 110 X-Dynamic HSE variant and going up to Rs. 2.60 crore for the flagship OCTA Edition One as it saw a price drop of up to Rs. 18.6 lakh due to GST 2.0 tax slab.

Multiple engine options are available including a 2.0-litre turbo mild-hybrid petrol, 3.0-litre diesel mild-hybrid and a more powerful 5.0-litre V8 petrol that generates up to 426 hp and 610 Nm of torque. All versions are equipped with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive as standard.
