2025 BMW X5 comes with cosmetic enhancements and new features and is powered by both mild-hybrid petrol and diesel engine options
BMW India has refreshed its luxury SUV lineup with the updated X5 bringing in petrol and diesel variants priced between Rs. 1 crore and Rs. 1.15 crore (ex-showroom). Built locally at the Chennai plant, the new X5 gets a more aggressive road stance with 21-inch alloys and reworked side air breathers along with a host of other cosmetic enhancements.
At the front, the Matrix Adaptive LED headlights with blue accents introduce a high-tech appeal while the rear lights now form a distinctive illuminated X motif. Buyers can pick the 2025 BMW X5 from colour options like Brooklyn Grey, Carbon Black, Tanzanite Blue, Mineral White, Skyscraper Grey and Black Sapphire.
On the inside, a large curved display stretches across the dashboard – combining a 12.3-inch driver’s screen and a 14.9-inch infotainment unit into a single glass panel. The luxury crossover also gets electric adjustment and lumbar support as standard – complemented by four-zone climate control and a panoramic sunroof. The M Sport Pro package adds piano black trims and M seat belts while audio is handled by a 16-speaker Harman Kardon system.
The petrol-powered xDrive40i’s 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine produces 381 hp and 520 Nm and is capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 kmph in 5.4 seconds. The xDrive30d diesel generates 286 hp and a meaty 650 Nm of torque which is good enough for a sprint in 6.1 seconds. Both get support from a 48V mild-hybrid motor that contributes an extra 12 hp and 200 Nm.
An eight-speed Steptronic gearbox is sold as standard. In addition, an xOffroad package is now standard as well offering four terrain modes – sand, gravel, rocks and snow. These settings automatically tweak suspension height, throttle response and traction control while reinforced underbody protection is said to provide extra durability. Other highlights are BMW’s xDrive all-wheel system and adaptive two-axle air suspension.
For buyers wanting a sportier version, the M Sport Pro trim introduces plenty of cosmetic upgrades such as gloss black elements for the kidney grille, tailpipes and air breathers alongside red brake callipers, an M exhaust system and sporty detailing in the cabin. The new X5 integrates latest iDrive system, ConnectedDrive services and the MyBMW app for remote access to vehicle functions.
Features like Digital Key Plus allow the car to be unlocked and driven using a smartphone while Parking Assistant Professional enables automated parking and reversing, even remotely. As for safety, it gets multiple airbags, stability control and ISOFIX mounts.
