All-new Tata Sierra, returning to showrooms after a two-decade hiatus, will offer several segment-first features, including a front passenger touchscreen

As we had been reporting for the last few months, Tata Motors has confirmed a triple-screen setup for the next-gen Sierra. The company has released a new teaser video showing the segment-first feature that could steal the thunder from the hot-selling Hyundai Creta.

Amid a new, intensified push into digitalisation, Tata Motors has designed the next-gen Sierra’s dashboard to incorporate not one but three free-standing displays. The right-side and centre panels will serve as the instrument cluster and infotainment screens, while the left-side unit will be dedicated to the front passenger, a feature that none of the other models in the segment offer.

The central and front passenger displays appear to be 12.3-inch units, and the driver information display should measure at least 10.25 inches diagonally. While they all three share a common frame, the noticeably large panel gaps between them don’t quite deliver the intended seamless, single-panel effect.

The passenger touchscreen should allow the front passenger to stream videos, control music playback, navigation, and air conditioning, and play games. It will also sync with the central display to deliver captivating visual scapes, allowing the occupants to relax on long journeys.

Tata Motors isn’t digitalising essential and frequently used functions. The next-gen Sierra will have a regular climate control panel that offers intuitive operations with minimal distraction, located in the centre of the lower part of the dashboard. Its steering wheel will also have physical controls, along with a backlit brand logo.

Other highlights of the next-gen Tata Sierra will include 18-inch alloy wheels, a power tailgate, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats with power adjustment on the driver’s side, reclining rear seats, Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems, disc brakes at both ends, and six airbags. It will likely be available with a brand-new 1.5-litre petrol engine in naturally aspirated and turbocharged variants and a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine.

The petrol engine should produce up to 168 hp and up to 280 Nm of torque, while the diesel mill will likely develop 116 hp and 260 Nm of torque. 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic are the expected transmission choices.

Tata Motors has confirmed it will launch the next-gen Sierra on 25 November, and it should introduce a Sierra.ev all-electric derivative in December. Unlike the ICE model, it will likely offer the EV even in AWD.
