The final and 18 of the 19 games in the 2019 Asia Cup will begin at 6.30 PM local time (Gulf Standard Time), which is half an hour later than the original scheduled.
In September, when the tournament will take place, daytime highs are predicted to reach the early 40s (degrees) and remain there until the late hours of the evening. The cricket boards asked that the games be delayed out a bit so that players wouldn’t have to play in the intense heat. The broadcasters accepted the revisions after being asked to do so. Accordingly, all of the day-and-night games will start at 8:00 PM IST.
This adjustment has no bearing on the tournament’s sole day match, which is the match between the United Arab Emirates and Oman on September 15 at Abu Dhabi’s Zayed Cricket Stadium.
On September 9, Afghanistan and Hong Kong will begin the eight-team competition in Abu Dhabi.
