Skoda posted units in wholesale sales between January and June 2025 as against 28,899 units with a YoY surge of 134 per cent

Skoda Auto India ended the first half of 2025 on an impressive note, clocking 36,194 units in wholesale sales between January and June. The sales figure represents a 134 per cent year-on-year surge compared to H1 2024 but also eclipses the company’s previous best of 28,899 units in the same period back in 2022, courtesy of its recent launches.

The mid-year achievement has helped Skoda climb four spots in the Indian auto industry’s rankings, placing it among the country’s top seven car brands by volume – a first in its 25 years of local operations. The company is also marking 130 years globally in 2025 – adding further significance to the milestone achieved locally.

The product expansion has played a key role in the result. The Kylaq, Skoda’s first compact SUV under four metres, opened new doors to entry-level customers and helped penetrate deeper into Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets following its launch in November 2024. Based on the heavily localised MQB A0 IN platform, the Kylaq is powered by a 1.0L turbo petrol engine.

The momentum continued with the debut of the second generation Kodiaq premium SUV this past April. The new Kodiaq has been made available in two variants namely Sportline and L&K with an ex-showroom starting price of Rs. 46.89 lakh (ex-showroom). It uses a 2.0L turbo petrol engine paired with a seven-speed DCT. It boasts a maximum power output of 201 hp and 320 Nm of peak torque.

The Slavia remains a strong contributor and a globally recognised nameplate is expected to join soon which we all know is the Octavia RS. On the retail front, Skoda’s network footprint has grown from just 120 outlets in 2021 to more than 295 customer touchpoints nationwide. The network is expected to cross 350 by the end of this calendar year.

The brand now provides a complimentary one-year maintenance package across all new purchases as first scheduled service only comes due at 30,000 km or after two years – whichever comes first. Buyers can also choose from an array of extended warranty and service plans. The brand also sells the Kushaq midsize SUV in India and hybrid technology could be considered for its future models.
