New Mahindra Bolero Rendering

New gen Mahindra Bolero will more likely make its debut in August with a number of revisions inside and out

Mahindra has been spotted testing a new internal combustion SUV on Indian roads and early signs suggest it could either be the next-generation Bolero or an updated Bolero Neo. Based on the latest test mule images, a digital rendering has been created by us to preview what the production version might look like.

It is clear that the SUV is likely to make a strong impression both in scale and presence. Styling details seem to borrow heavily from Mahindra’s current crop of offerings. The proportions and surfaces hint at familiar design cues, potentially incorporating elements from the Scorpio N and visual inspiration from the Thar.e concept while maintaining recognisable Bolero Neo traits.

The rendering depicts a tall, squared-off stance with pronounced vertical pillars and a flat tailgate as well as a swooping bonnet, staying true to the Bolero’s upright proportions. A spare wheel remains mounted on the tailgate, preserving one of the model’s longstanding visual cues. Up front, the SUV features vertically aligned grille slats and a high-set nose, flanked by LED projector headlights. At the rear, it will get rectangular tail lamps and a new bumper while the side profile will be greeted with a set of new alloy wheels.

According to ongoing industry speculation, the new platform supporting the new Bolero or Bolero Neo could be officially revealed on August 15, potentially alongside a near-production prototype. Beneath the skin, Mahindra is expected to debut a heavily updated ladder-frame chassis – an approach that would clearly distinguish the model from rival midsize SUVs built on monocoque foundations.

While the focus will more likely be on keeping the pricing accessible, features and tech carried over from the XUV700 may make their way into this value-driven SUV. Mechanically, the upcoming Bolero may continue to use the tried-and-tested 1.5-litre three-cylinder diesel motor that currently powers the Neo, where it delivers 100 hp and 260 Nm of torque.

However, Mahindra could also explore the possibility of offering higher-capacity engines, potentially even those seen in the monocoque-based XUV 3XO to strengthen the SUV’s appeal and performance credentials. Both manual and automatic transmissions will be made available.
