Due to the further postponement of her return to competitive cricket, Shreyanka Patil will not be participating in the August multi-format tour of Australia with the India A. Subject to NCA fitness clearance, the all-rounder was a member of the original touring group. Her Return-to-Play date has been advanced by more than a week, though, effectively postponing her fitness clearance until the T20 series in Australia begins on August 7.
In addition to Patil, legspinner Priya Mishra has also missed the tour because of an ailment that has not been made public. “Both players remain under the care of the BCCI Medical Team at the Centre of Excellence and are currently undergoing their Return-to-Play protocols,” according to a release from the BCCI.
Dhara Gujjar and Prema Rawat, respectively, are replacing the injured spinners across both forms, while Yastika Bhatia has been included as a late addition to the one-day squad. Both Rawat (only T20) and Gujjar (only one-day and multi-format) had previously been named inselective squads, but they will now be staying longer.
Bhatia’s inclusion in the one-day squad could indicate that the BCCI would be keeping an eye on her with the Women’s ODI World Cup a little over two months away. She was also part of India’s squad in the recently concluded three-match ODI series against England, where India won 2-1, but she didn’t get a game.
India A will face Australia in three T20s, three one-day matches and one four-day match from August 7 to August 24.
