Power Grid wins bids for 3 interstate transmission projects under BOOT model

State-owned Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (POWERGRID) on Tuesday (March 4) said it has been declared the successful bidder for three inter-state transmission system projects under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process.

The projects will be developed under the build, own, operate, and transfer (BOOT) model. POWERGRID received the letter of intent (LoI) for these projects on March 3, 2025.

The first project

is the transmission system for Rajasthan REZ phase-5 (Part-1: 4 GW) [Sirohi/Nagaur] complex, involving augmentation at the under-construction Sirohi substation and the development of 765kV double-circuit transmission lines across Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

The second project involves adding to the transformation capacity at Banaskantha (Raghanesda) PS (GIS) in Gujarat, focusing on ICT augmentation works.

The third project, the transmission system for integration of Kurnool-IV REZ – phase-I (4.5 GW), includes establishing a new 765/400/220kV pooling substation in Kurnool, augmenting the C’peta substation, and transmission lines across Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

Q4 numbers

Power Grid Corporation of India reported a 4.1% year-on-year (YoY) decline in net profit at ₹3,861.6 crore for the third quarter that ended on December 31, 2024.

In the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year, Power Grid Corporation of India posted a net profit of ₹4,028.3 crore. The CNBC-TV18 poll had predicted a profit of ₹4,020.5 crore for the quarter under review.

The company’s revenue from operations dipped 3% to ₹11,233 crore against ₹11,579.8 crore in the corresponding period of the preceding fiscal. The CNBC-TV18 poll had predicted revenue of ₹11,606 crore for the quarter under review.

At the operating level, EBITDA fell 6.9% YoY to ₹9,537.9 crore in the third quarter of this fiscal year from ₹10,242.9 crore in the corresponding period in the previous fiscal year. The CNBC-TV18 poll had predicted an EBITDA of ₹10,142 crore for the quarter under review.

Shares of Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd ended at ₹254.05, up by ₹1.50, or 0.59%, on the BSE.
