New gen Hyundai Venue will get a number of changes design-wise and inside the cabin while the powertrain choices could be retained

Hyundai’s new compact SUV is steadily advancing towards launch with heavily camouflaged prototypes becoming a common sight both in India and abroad. Frequent road tests indicate that the development programme could be nearing its final phase as the latest images show wheel speed sensors which could be crucial for various system checks.

Industry chatter points to the next-gen Venue making its way into showrooms around the festive season. Hyundai has dropped the mesh-style grille – replacing it with horizontally layered rectangular bars stretched across the front. Although the Venue keeps its overall shape intact, the refreshed detailing conveys a more mature design direction. Complementing this, the new C-shaped DRLs sit alongside the main headlight units.

Codenamed QU2i, the third-gen Venue will stay the same in size compared to the current model but its design direction is taking a new turn. Inspiration from bigger models like the Creta and Alcazar is evident – especially up front where the styling has been reworked. The headlamp units are now stacked vertically lending the SUV a boxier stance.

Updates of the new generation Hyundai Venue extend beyond the fascia as Hyundai has reshaped the side body panels and added new 16-inch alloy wheels as well. At the rear, the bumper and tailgate have been redesigned – joined by a revised tail lamp cluster. Capping the changes is a reprofiled roof spoiler that completes the updated look.

Inside, Hyundai is said to be preparing big changes with highlights like a dual-pane sunroof, bigger touchscreen unit and Level 2 ADAS making their way in. The cabin itself won’t stay untouched either – gaining a new dashboard setup, updated centre console and new upholstery finishes amongst other enhancements.

Powertrain options for the new compact SUV are unlikely to change – carrying forward the 1.2L petrol, 1.5L diesel and 1.0L turbo petrol engines with same power and torque outputs. Transmission pairings should stay identical too with a six-speed manual, six-speed automatic and seven-speed dual-clutch auto expected to be on offer.
