Mohammed Siraj Takes Out Ben Stokes With A Fiery Bouncer

Mohammed Siraj Takes Out Ben Stokes: Day 3 of the India vs England 2nd Test at Edgbaston began on a thunderous note for the visitors as Mohammed Siraj dismissed both Joe Root and Ben Stokes, the two most experienced players in the current England side.

He claimed those two dismissals on consecutive balls in his first over on day 3, helping India assert more control over the match. This was the first golden duck in Test cricket for Ben Stokes, the current England captain.

India had utterly dominated day 2 in Birmingham. Shubman Gill converted his century into a mammoth double hundred, and with the help of Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar, he propelled India to a giant score of 587.

India struck thrice with the ball before stumps on day 2. Akash Deep, who is playing in place of the rested Jasprit Bumrah, dismissed Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope both for ducks, while Siraj got rid of Zak Crawley.

Siraj was fired up on the morning of day 3 as well, claiming the huge wickets of Root and Stokes. While Root’s wicket was a bit lucky for Siraj, as the right-hander nicked it down the leg side through to Rishabh Pant, Stokes’ dismissal came via an outstanding bouncer from the speedster.

It was indeed a brutal bumper from Siraj as it pitched on the leg stump and was slanted across from Siraj, which means it ended up reaching Stokes at chest height and outside the off-stump, prompting the left-hander to have a poke at it. Stokes tried to retract his bat but managed a faint nick on it, which was taken easily by Pant.

Siraj and the Indian players, along with the Indian fans in the crowd, celebrated this big wicket with huge roars.
