Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will be launched in India in September 2025 and it will be sold with two battery options
Production targets for Maruti Suzuki e Vitara have reportedly been scaled back due to disruptions in the supply chain. The root of the issue appears to be difficulty in securing rare earth materials which are critical for EV hardware like traction motor magnets. These supply constraints have now forced a revision in the original build plans well ahead of the vehicle’s official launch timeline.
Maruti Suzuki has not altered the e Vitara’s launch plans despite the hiccup. The all-electric SUV is still on track for a market introduction around September 2025 and it will be sold through the Nexa dealership network. To meet its annual goal of 67,000 units, the manufacturer is banking on a sharp production ramp up between October 2025 and March 2026 according to reports.
New images of the final production-ready e Vitara have surfaced online, finished in a black exterior and appearing completely undisguised hinting that it is inching closer to launch. Buyers will get to choose between two battery configurations: a 48.8 kWh pack and a larger 61.1 kWh option. The latter is expected to deliver a certified driving range of more than 500 kilometres per charge.
The midsize electric SUV will be available in ten colour schemes namely Arctic White, Opulent Red, Splendid Silver, Grandeur Grey, Land Breeze Green, Bluish Black, Nexa Blue and combinations of Splendid Silver with Bluish Black roof, Opulent Red with Bluish Black roof, and Land Breeze Green with Bluish Black roof.
Although international variants of the will be equipped with an all-wheel-drive configuration, the India-spec model is expected to stick with a front-wheel-drive setup only. The e Vitara will be sold in three trims namely Delta, Zeta and Alpha and it will be rolled out of SMC’s Gujarat plant for local and overseas markets. It will support DC fast charging as standard, capable of replenishing the battery from zero to 80 per cent in approximately 50 minutes.
The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will take on Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Harrier EV, Mahindra XEV 9e and BE 6 and all of them debuted only recently in India. The equipment list comprises seven airbags, Level 2 ADAS, panoramic sunroof, a large touchscreen infotainment system, fully-digital instrumentation, etc.
