Mahindra XUV700 facelift will be launched in the early parts of next year and it will get notable revisions inside and out

The refreshed XUV700 has been undergoing road tests in recent weeks fuelling speculation around a possible launch early next year. Since its market debut nearly four years ago, the XUV700 has carved out a strong following – supported by a wide variant spread and an extensive equipment list along with powerful engine options.

As anticipation builds, the mid-cycle update is expected to enhance what is already one of Mahindra’s most feature-loaded models in the SUV segment. The upcoming XEV 7e, which takes its cues from the XUV.e8 concept, has already been spotted testing on Indian roads on several occasions as well. This electric SUV will reportedly share more than a few design and structural elements with the ICE XUV700.

Recent spy shots of the latter’s suggest visible changes are on the way. A redesigned bumper and a tweaked headlamp unit hint at a refreshed front fascia. While the signature flush-mounted door handles have been carried over from the current version, most other sections along the side remain heavily camouflaged for now but changes can be seen.

Although the overall shape of the tail lamps appears familiar, internal revisions to the lighting elements cannot be ruled out and a redesigned rear bumper also seems likely. The facelift is also expected to introduce a set of new alloy wheels and potentially new exterior colour choices.

However, being a mid-cycle refresh, no major alterations to the dimensions or underpinnings are possible. As for the mechanicals, revisions are not expected to be part of the update even as Mahindra prepares to introduce hybrid technology across its midsize portfolio in the near future. The current 2.0-litre turbo mStallion petrol and 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engines are likely to remain on offer.

As for the transmissions, the six-speed manual gearbox and the six-speed torque converter automatic unit are expected to be carried forward. Inside the cabin, Mahindra will more likely introduce new surface finishes, revised upholstery and material enhancements to elevate overall tactility but the biggest highlight will be inclusion of a triple screen layout.

A number of features from the newer BE 6 and XEV 9e could also make their way into the updated XUV700 as well – further bridging the gap between its current IC lineup and the brand’s premium electric offerings.
