Lucknow Boosts Green Mobility with 165 New EV Charging Stations
In a significant step towards fostering sustainable urban mobility, the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has announced the installation of 165 new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across the city. This transformative initiative is designed to enhance charging accessibility for residents, daily commuters, and fleet operators, thereby accelerating the city’s transition towards clean and eco-friendly transportation.
With this deployment, Lucknow is set to strengthen its status as a progressive smart city, supporting both state-level and national goals for electric mobility. The initiative is expected to ease range anxiety, one of the major barriers to EV adoption, and encourage more citizens to switch from internal combustion engine vehicles to electric alternatives.
The charging stations have been strategically placed in high-traffic urban zones, including:
- Commercial districts, where demand for last-mile delivery and daily commutes is high,
- Government buildings, facilitating public sector EV use,
- Busy marketplaces and arterial roadways, maximizing visibility and usage, and
- Residential neighborhoods, promoting ease of access for private EV owners.
By covering such a diverse network of locations, the LMC ensures equitable access and high utility of the infrastructure, regardless of socio-economic background or area of residence.
This move not only complements the broader Uttar Pradesh Electric Vehicle Policy, but also ties into India’s larger ambition of achieving 30% EV adoption by 2030.
