How to unlock advanced features on the Samsung Galaxy S25 with Galaxy AI

8 Min Read

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is one of the biggest phone releases of 2025 so far, offering amazing performance and long battery life, but it’s its focus on AI that perhaps holds the most potential.

Samsung, as with many big tech companies, is betting big on AI features in its latest devices, and the Korean giant is aiming to make them more useful for the everyday user – think less chatbot, more transcription, translation, and helping you get that killer photo.

Here are just some of the biggest Galaxy AI* features on the S25, and how you can use them to take your day to a whole new level.

How can I make my photos look even better?

One of the biggest annoyances when taking photos is missing that perfect moment. Maybe someone moves at the last second, blurring the image, or perhaps a bystander walks into the background of the frame.

Until recently that would be enough to ruin that perfect frame-worthy image, but now Galaxy AI’s Scene Optimization** and editing suggestions help you perfect every shot — no filters or retakes needed.

Not only will it automatically adjust settings (so it knows if you’re taking a fancy picture of your lunch, or a nighttime shot of a skyline), but it’ll also suggest subtle edits like crop, shadow, and brightness changes after a picture is taken to maximize the impact.

How can I take better photos at night?

Aside from the Scene Optimization tool, Samsung’s AI has its own nighttime photography process.

AI-based Nightography essentially blends multiple frames into a single image by using machine learning, reducing noise and enhancing detail in low light, even if you’re not using a flash.

It’s a huge step forward from the days of always needing a light source, and means even amateur shutterbugs can take great photos.

How can I have fun with my photos?

AI allows for more creative expression than simply tweaking sharpness, brightness, and contrast on photos, and Samsung’s Portrait Studio is a testament to that.

Using the studio, you can revamp pictures of your friends into manga-style illustrations, comic-book superheroes, or even watercolor works of art. If you want a new profile picture that stands out, this is the way to do it — and it’s nicely tied into the Gallery app.

Simply open the app, tap the Photo assist icon, and then choose your style.

How do I create amazing slow-motion videos?

If you’ve ever tried to turn one of your artfully filmed videos into a slow-motion masterpiece, you’ll know how awkward the flickering of the frames can be.

Samsung has solved this issue by leveraging AI*** to create additional, interstitial frames, similarly to how it works on high-end gaming PCs.

This means that slow-motion videos look much slicker, and come with a lot less flicker.

How can I take amazing videos and pictures at gigs and events?

Zoom on mobile cameras has come a long way, but it’s fair to say that once you reach a certain point there’s a drop-off in quality.

Again, Samsung has the answer. The S25 uses machine learning to enhance image clarity while you’re zoomed in, so you can get a better recording of your favorite artist on stage, allowing for more memories and less blurriness.

How can I write better messages and emails?

Once upon a time, there were a whole host of third-party keyboards that claimed to learn your phrasing and typing as you used them, but Samsung’s AI keyboard**** is an altogether smarter beast.

Not only does it offer subtle grammar and spell-checking, but it can even rewrite for you. If you’re planning a super-important business email, for example, it can make you sound much more professional, while also making even more serious conversations a little more natural.

How do I translate in real time?

Speaking of functionality that often felt out of reach in the past, AI translation via the Galaxy S25’s camera***** is science fiction turned reality.

Heading off on vacation, or away on a work trip and unable to make sense of the signs and storefronts around you? Samsung’s Live Translate lets you point your camera at text and get an instant overlay.

Better yet, use it on a menu so you don’t accidentally order something you’re not expecting.

Aside from the Camera Mode, there’s also real-time voice and text translation. That can be ideal for being on a call with an overseas colleague or client, removing language barriers. Our favorite part is that you don’t need to fire up an additional app to use it, because everything is rolled into Samsung’s own native software.

How can I transcribe notes in seconds?

Fast transcription feels like one of the earliest use cases for AI in the workplace, and while it used to require a huge amount of resources, it’s now slicker than it’s ever been – and on the device you keep in your pocket******, to boot.

As a journalist, being able to have my own personal transcription service in my pocket is a huge help, and it’ll also mean anyone sitting in meetings can get a set of minutes or summaries produced almost instantly.

It even works hand-in-hand with translation, meaning multiple-language meetings can be recorded.
