The actress, who played the unforgettable Simran, doesn’t think a part two would do justice to the magic of the original. When asked if she felt her films gave a different image of love, Kajol said,

“Absolutely! And that’s why I say – There shouldn’t be a DDLJ Part 2. That train has left the station. And that was the end of it. The end happened nicely, right there. After that, we don’t know who’s waking up at what time, how many kids they have, who killed whom. We don’t discuss the marriage after that. It’s done. Over. Dusted.”

Now that’s a very Kajol way of putting things. Witty, honest, and straight from the heart. She made it clear that the beauty of DDLJ lies in its ending. The story was complete the moment Raj pulled Simran onto that train. Anything more would just take away from the magic.

The conversation got even more interesting when she was asked what kind of marriage Raj and Simran would have had. Her reply was quick and clear.

“No, no, exactly! That’s the point, I’m telling you, let’s just end the story right there. No one wants to hear what happens after that. The picture is good up until that point. That’s where it ends.”

And honestly, she’s not wrong. Sometimes it’s better to let stories stay perfect rather than over-explain them. We’ve all imagined what their life would be like, but maybe that’s the charm. It’s up to us to dream about their happily ever after.

So if you’ve been waiting to see an older Raj and Simran navigating marriage, bills, and PTA meetings, it’s time to let that dream go. Kajol has spoken. And maybe it’s for the best. Some stories don’t need a sequel. They just need to stay golden in our hearts. DDLJ is one of those rare gems.
