Jofra Archer has been named to England’s Test team for the second match of the current five-game series against India.

When the second match begins on July 2 at Edgbaston in Birmingham, Archer, 30, will be making his Test comeback for the first time since February 2021 and will be eligible to add to his 13 Test caps.

When Sussex played Durham in the final round of the County Championship, the pacer made a comeback to red-ball cricket. Prior to making his white-ball comeback in May of last year, he struggled with a number of injuries, including a back stress fracture, that kept him out of play sporadically until 2024. His final Test match for England also took place against India in 2021.

The rest of the England team is identical to the one announced prior to the Leeds series opener, which the home team won by five wickets.

The Lord’s (July 10–14), Old Trafford in Manchester (July 23–27), and The Oval (July 31–August 4) will host the final three Test matches in the recently renamed Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025.

England squad for 2nd Test: Ben Stokes (C), Jofra Archer, Shoaib Bashir, Jacob Bethell, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Sam Cook, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Jamie Overton, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Jamie Smith, Josh Tongue, Chris Woakes.
