Tata Motors is preparing to reintroduce one of its most iconic nameplates, the Sierra, to the Indian market early next year

At the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, Tata Motors took the wraps off the all-new Sierra. Interestingly, the electric version is set to debut ahead of the ICE-powered model. Over the past few months, test mules of the midsize SUV have been spotted on several occasions – hinting at it sticking to its launch timeline which we may not have to wait too long.

The set of new spy shots of the upcoming Tata Sierra have surfaced from Mumbai now – giving another glimpse at the SUV ahead of potential launch early next year. It appears that Tata Motors is evaluating two versions of the five-seater, and both prototypes carry a strong resemblance to the concept showcased earlier this year.

The wide horizontal grille flanked by slim headlamps and a connecting LED light bar are more than evident from the test mule along with the aggressive bumper cutouts. At the back, the flat profile with a slender tail lamp strip, roof-mounted spoiler and heavily sculpted bumper are also clearly visible – reminiscing the near-production concept.

The final road-going version is expected to carry a contrasting black roof that merges seamlessly with the panoramic sunroof – creating a glasshouse-like band and floating roof look. The upright pillars, steeply raked front windshield and stretched wheelbase should translate into a roomy cabin. Adding to the visual appeal are the muscular wheel arches and flush-fitting door handles.

The new Tata Sierra is expected to be equipped with DC fast charging support and bidirectional tech, including Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) energy transfer. While official confirmation is pending, the possibility of adopting the Harrier EV’s dual-motor setup is highly likely enabling an AWD system along with a claimed driving range of more than 500 km.

The ICE-powered Tata Sierra is expected to bring in the newly developed 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine – capable of delivering 168 PS and 280 Nm. In addition, the tried-and-tested 2.0-litre diesel motor may continue to produce close to 170 PS and 350 Nm.

Transmission choices should include both a six-speed manual and a six-speed torque converter automatic. It will feature a modern triple-screen setup including a 12.3-inch central infotainment unit, a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster and an additional 12.3-inch driver display. The SUV will also be equipped with Level 2 ADAS (module can be seen in these spy shots), a 360-degree camera system, ventilated front seats, etc.
