A second Amazon Prime Day is expected for October – here’s everything we know

5 Min Read

While it might feel like Amazon’s four-day July Prime Day sale just wrapped up, you’ll need to gear up for its next event: Prime Big Deal Days. Also known as Amazon’s October Prime Day, the annual sale will take place next month, with thousands of deals exclusively for Prime members.

As a deals editor who’s covered the sale when it first launched in 2022, I’ve created this guide with everything you need to know about this year’s October Prime Day sale. To clarify, the name of the sale is officially ‘Prime Big Deal Days’ (which is a mouthful and, to be honest, just a bad name), but most people call it October Prime Day.

While Amazon has yet to officially announce the dates, based on past years, we can predict that the event will take place on the second Tuesday and Wednesday of the month. This year, those dates would be October 7 and 8, which is less than a month away.

The two-day fall event is similar to the July sale, featuring deals on Amazon’s own devices, as well as tech gadgets from brands like Apple, Samsung, and LG, kitchen appliances, vacuums, clothing, toys, and more.

As soon as Amazon announces more details, we’ll update you, but in the meantime, you can learn more about Prime Day Big Deal Days below, plus I’ve today’s best deals from the retailer if you feel like browsing bargains right now.

What is Amazon’s October Prime Day sale?

Amazon first launched an October Prime Day sale in 2022, as a two-day shopping event for Prime members before the holidays. Although we didn’t know at the time if it would become an annual event, the retailer has held the sale in October since its inception.

Amazon’s October Prime Day sale is also the kickoff to the Black Friday shopping season. Retailers like Walmart, Target, and Best Buy launch competing sales with Black Friday-like discounts on TVs, AirPods, air fryers, laptops, and more. The two-day event is an excellent opportunity to get a head start on your holiday shopping if you don’t want to wait for its November Balck Friday sale.

When is Amazon’s October Prime Day sale?

While Amazon hasn’t yet officially announced the dates (I expect that to happen any day now), we can make guesses based on past years. The October Prime Day sale typically takes place on the second Tuesday and Wednesday of the month, which would be October 7 and 8.

The big question is whether Amazon will expand the October sale to a four-day event, similar to this year’s July Prime Day sale. Amazon announced that its recent four-day Prime Day sale was its most successful Prime Day event ever, which means they could try to extend this year’s October sale to match that success.

Do you need a Prime member to shop Amazon’s October sale?

Just like Amazon’s July Prime Day sale, you need a Prime membership to shop the July event. Luckily, if you aren’t already a member, you can sign up for a free 30-day trial right now, which should take you through to the event if it occurs on October 7 and 8.

Amazon Prime Day perks include free shipping, access to Prime Video, Prime Music, and much more.

What October Prime Day deals you can expect

Amazon’s Prime Day is known for its deep discounts on the retailer’s own devices. You can score over 50% in savings on Fire TV Sticks, Kindle e-readers, Ring Doorbells, Blink security cameras, Fire tablets, Echo speakers, and Fire TVs.

You can also expect to see deals on Apple’s best-selling devices, including first-time discounts on the all-new AirPods Pro 3, the Apple Watch 11, the Apple Watch SE 3, and the Apple Watch Ultra 3.

Other popular Prime Day deals include kitchen appliances from brands like Ninja, Keurig and Nespresso, and vacuums from Dyson, Shark and Bissell. You’ll also find best-selling tech on sale like TVs, laptops, and headphones, as well as toys, clothing, and home items.
