Here we have brought you a rundown of the 3 upcoming SUVs from the stable of Maruti Suzuki and Toyota over the next 6 months in India
Maruti Suzuki and Toyota are planning to introduce as many as three new SUV offerings before the end of this year and here we have explained them:
1. Maruti Suzuki e Vitara:
Maruti Suzuki is preparing to make its first move into the electric vehicle space with the upcoming e Vitara which is expected to go on sale by September. Positioned as a five-seater SUV, the model will be underpinned by the Heartect e skateboard platform and two battery configurations will be part of the lineup.
A 49 kWh unit and a larger 61 kWh pack will be utilised. The latter is expected to offer a claimed range of more than 500 km on a single charge, placing it among the more capable EVs in its segment. The e Vitara will be retailed through Maruti Suzuki’s Nexa dealership network and it will support DC fast charging as well.

The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will compete with Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra XEV 9e and Mahindra BE 6 amongst others. The equipment list will comprise a large touchscreen display, a fully-digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, multiple airbags, Level 2 ADAS, automatic climate control, ventilated seats and more.
2. Maruti Suzuki Escudo:
Maruti Suzuki will bring in a brand new SUV which will slot below the Grand Vitara in the coming months. To be positioned above the Brezza, it will be sold through the Arena dealerships and could be named Escudo. It will take design inspiration from the e Vitara and will likely be sold with 1.5L mild hybrid petrol and 1.5L strong hybrid petrol engines.

3. Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV:
The Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV made its global debut in Brussels before gracing the show floor at Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in Delhi earlier this year. It will have a lot in common with the e Vitara as both will share the platform and associated underpinnings along with the features. However, notable differences can be found on the exterior. It will be launched before the end of 2025 or in early 2026.
