Over the next two years, Hyundai appears to be planning to introduce a number of new SUVs across different segment and here we have explained them

Hyundai is switching gears and laying out plans for new electric vehicles with most of the manufacturing set on home turf. SUVs are set to take the lead as the brand eyes to bring in India-made models with international launches. The brand’s long-term blueprint for the Indian market involves rolling out 26 vehicles before this decade wraps up.

The bulk of this lineup will stick with traditional petrol engines – expect around 20 models powered by conventional ICE and possibly hybrid setups. In addition, the second largest carmaker in the country has mapped out six pure electric vehicles. Whispers in the industry suggest Hyundai might launch electric versions of models like the Venue and i10.

Separately, all signs point to a new generation Venue arriving around in early November taking advantage of the festive season furore. It will sport sharper design cues, an overhauled interior and an updated equipment list. Meanwhile, talk has surfaced about a new compact SUV, possibly taking cues from the Bayon, that could join the range down the road.

Hyundai’s groundwork for its electric future is already underway – marked by dedicated investment in charging stations across major locations. For now, the Creta Electric and Ioniq 5 headline Hyundai’s EV lineup in India. Plans are afoot to bring in the Ioniq 9 which will take up the mantle as their new flagship electric model but it has not been confirmed yet.

Speculation is swirling that Hyundai is sizing up an entry for a new small electric SUV – adapted from the Inster EV – which could land in showrooms by 2026-27. Around the following year, a facelifted version of the Creta Electric is tipped for release. On the other front, Hyundai isn’t shelving its petrol-powered models with upgrades in the pipeline for its most popular offerings to keep the range competitive.

The Korean auto major appears to be moving forward with intentions to debut hybrid technology. By 2027, the company is likely to pull the wraps off the next-gen Creta alongside a brand new three-row SUV, set to slot in between the Alcazar and Tucson.

Both new models are expected to adopt hybrid systems based on the proven 1.5-litre petrol engine. Hyundai’s Palisade three-row premium SUV has surfaced on the brand’s radar for a possible Indian launch if emerging reports are to be believed.
