After the massive success of ‘Chhaava’ in Hindi, the makers have officially announced the Telugu release of the historical action drama. Directed by Laxman Utekar and starring Vicky Kaushal in the titular role, the film is performing well in the theatres.
The Telugu trailer was unveiled on social media for the fans in the Southern belt. The film is set to hit theatres in Telugu on March 7, 2025.
Sharing the news the makers wrote, “A grand spectacle of courage and glory Now In Telugu #Chhaava Telugu trailer out now! #ChhaavaTelugu grand release on March 7th by #GeethaArtsDistributions”.
‘Chhaava’ is based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the valiant son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Adapted from Shivaji Sawant’s Marathi novel of the same name, the film chronicles Sambhaji’s struggles to defend his kingdom against Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb’s relentless attacks. Vicky Kaushal has delivered a commanding performance as Sambhaji, bringing his bravery and commitment to Swarajya (self-rule). Akshaye Khanna portrays Aurangzeb with chilling intensity, while the “National Crush” Rashmika Mandanna plays Yesubai Bhonsale, Sambhaji’s wife.
The story unfolds in 17th-century India, showcasing Sambhaji’s journey from a warrior prince to a fearless king who battles enemies within and outside his kingdom. The film is packed with high-octane action sequences, emotional moments, and political conspiracy.
The film also includes Vineet Kumar Singh as Kavi Kalash, Sambhaji’s loyal friend, Diana Penty, and Divya Dutta in pivotal roles.
The film is one of the highest grossing Indian films of 2025. By its 18th day, ‘Chhaava’ had amassed an impressive Rs 459.50 crore in India and over Rs 566.50 crore worldwide.
It is now among the top 25 highest-grossing Indian films and is poised to surpass the lifetime collections of films like ‘Dhoom 3’ and ‘Padmaavat’. The film’s success has also placed it in the same league as Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’, which earned over Rs 900 crore globally.
