However, another collapse was in order. Head got out soon after for 59; Beau Webster made 11, while Alex Carey was dismissed for just eight. Captain Pat Cummins did score 28 runs, but other bowlers did not provide much resistance with the bat as the Australian cricket team was all out for 180. Jayden Seales took a wicket, while Shamar Joseph took four wickets.

However, the West Indies lost four wickets by the end of Day 1, too, as Kraigg Brathwaite (4), John Campbell (7), Keacy Carty (20), and nightwatchman Jomel Warrican (0) got out by the time the score was 53/4.

On Day 2, Brandon King was dismissed for 26, as the West Indies’ score was now 72/5. But then, captain Roston Chase and Shai Hope came to the rescue. Their sixth wicket partnership was worth 67 runs. While the skipper made 44 runs, Hope made 48. By the time these two were dismissed, eight wickets had fallen and 162 runs were scored.

Still trailing a bit, there was another batter who would score some crucial runs at the death. Alzarri Joseph made 23 off 20 to take the Windies to 190 before getting all out, taking a 10-run lead.

Now, at the end of Day 2, the Aussies are at 92/4 with Travis Head and Beau Webster on strike. It is all but clear that this match will have a result. But that result can still fall in any direction as the 1st West Indies vs Australia Test match hangs in the balance.
