The maiden products from VinFast for India, the VF 6 and VF 7 have impressed in Bharat NCAP crash tests by securing high marks in AOP and COP tests
VinFast has secured top safety honours in India as both the VF 6 and VF 7 electric SUVs have earned a 5-star rating from Bharat NCAP. The VF 6 recorded 27.13 points out of a possible 32 in Adult Occupant Protection and 44.41 out of 49 in Child Occupant Protection. The VF 7 delivered even better numbers scoring 28.54 out of 32 for adult safety and 45.25 out of 49 for child protection.
In the official Bharat NCAP assessment, crash test performance remained good across multiple impact scenarios. During frontal offset tests, both the VF 6 and VF 7 achieved the maximum score of 4.000 points for head, neck and upper leg protection for the driver and front passenger. Side impact evaluations further reinforced their safety credentials.
Both vehicles secured full marks of 16.000 out of 16.000 for adult occupants and 8.000 out of 8.000 for child occupants. Pole side impact testing also returned favourable results. The head injury criterion values stood at 109 for the VF 6 and 131 for the VF 7 – significantly below the Bharat NCAP injury threshold of 700 confirming effective structural integrity and restraint performance in high-severity side collisions.

Bharat NCAP, operated under the Government of India, follows globally aligned crash testing protocols similar to Global NCAP and ASEAN NCAP. Vehicles are evaluated on adult and child occupant protection with ratings ranging from three to five stars. Achieving a 5-star rating places the VF 6 and VF 7 among the safest vehicles currently assessed for the Indian market.
Both electric SUVs are assembled at VinFast’s Tamil Nadu manufacturing facility and are underpinned by a dedicated EV platform. Safety equipment list comprises seven airbags as standard along with a high-strength body structure. Depending on the variant, the VF 6 and VF 7 are also equipped with advanced driver assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control, emergency lane keeping assist, front and rear autonomous emergency braking, blind spot detection and auto lane change assist.

Commenting on the new feat, Tapan Ghosh, CEO of VinFast India, said: “The 5-star safety ratings awarded to VF 6 and VF 7 by Bharat NCAP mark an important milestone, underscoring the quality and high safety standards of VinFast’s electric vehicles in India, one of the world’s largest automotive markets. These results show that VinFast EVs are built on a robust engineering foundation and meet stringent safety assessment requirements.”
