Hero’s Vida VX2 will go on sale on July 1, 2025 and it has been confirmed to get subscription-driven Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model

Hero MotoCorp’s electric mobility arm, Vida, is preparing to launch its VX2, on July 1. Ahead of the debut, the company has already teased the scooter, hinting at styling that mirrors the VIDA Z concept showcased at last year’s EICMA show in Milan. The front fairing, seen in the teaser, reveals a wraparound LED headlamp while leaked dealership shots from May point to a large digital instrument cluster, flat seat layout and an LED tail lamp.

The side profile also confirms similarities with the Vida Z concept. While the scooter itself is new, what really sets the VX2 apart is its ownership approach. Vida has now officially revealed that the VX2 will be introduced with a subscription-driven Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) plan – offering the option to separate battery cost from the vehicle. Customers will be able to choose from flexible, usage-based payment plans, converting battery ownership into smaller, periodic charges according to the brand.

The monthly BaaS model is curated to ease capital investment for buyers, enabling them to finance the chassis and batteries independently. It could help attract a wider audience to EVs by lowering acquisition cost and offering more manageable ownership options – especially useful for those unwilling to commit to full battery ownership right away.

Vida says its goal is to reshape EV access through affordability and freedom of choice and we will have to wait and see how it implements this strategy. Riders will have subscription tiers specifically made to their usage patterns, whether daily or occasional. Hero is banking on this flexibility to drive interest in a market still hesitant about EV range and resale value concerns.

Charging and service support will be crucial here as Vida’s existing infrastructure already spans more than 3,600 fast chargers and over 500 service locations in upwards of 100 cities across the country and consumers of the VX2 will immediately plug into that network. The Vida VX2 will more likely get two battery configurations: a single 2.2 kWh unit on the standard version and dual 3.4 kWh unit for the higher-spec variant.

The latter could deliver a claimed range of over 100 km. Both setups will likely offer removable battery options too. Pricing, exact subscription breakdowns and features list will be officially disclosed at the launch event.
