Tata Sierra is making a comeback as an EV first in early 2026 while the IC-engined version will follow it up
Tata Motors chose the BMGE 2025 to showcase the reborn Sierra – bringing back the familiar badge in a completely new form. Interestingly, the company plans to roll out the electric version first while the petrol and diesel-powered models will come later. Over the past few months, camouflaged prototypes of the midsize SUV have been caught testing multiple times on Indian roads.
It is a clear sign that development is almost complete and that Tata is sticking to its promised launch schedule which now looks closer than ever. Tata is gearing up to introduce the new SUV early next year. Recent prototypes spotted on test runs reveal a design language that closely mirrors the concept shown earlier in the year.
The exterior comprises a wide horizontal grille upfront, slim headlamps and a full-width LED light bar complemented by bold bumper cutouts. At the rear, the SUV features a flat stance – highlighted by a sleek tail lamp strip, a roof spoiler and a contoured bumper. Although Tata has yet to confirm the specifications, the SUV is expected to borrow the Harrier EV’s dual-motor setup – potentially providing all-wheel drive and a claimed range of over 500 km.

The production-ready model will more likely come with a contrasting black roof that flows into the panoramic sunroof – giving the SUV a floating roof look. Upright pillars, a raked front windshield, and a long wheelbase are expected to deliver a spacious cabin while muscular wheel arches and flush door handles further enhance the midsize SUV’s overall stance.
The all-new Tats Sierra is set to boast a triple-screen layout comprising a 12.3-inch central infotainment display, a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster and an extra 12.3-inch driver display. On the technology and safety front, the SUV will likely feature Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera system, ventilated front seats and other premium bits.

The petrol variant of the Tata Sierra could feature a newly developed 1.5-litre turbocharged engine producing around 168 PS and 280 Nm of torque. Alongside this, the familiar 2.0-litre diesel unit is expected to continue delivering close to 170 PS and 350 Nm. Buyers should be offered a choice between a six-speed manual and a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
It will feature a modern triple-screen setup including a 12.3-inch central infotainment unit, a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster and an additional 12.3-inch driver display.
