Kia will launch the next-gen Seltos in the Indian market next year with a strong hybrid powertrain option
Kia recently launched the Carens Clavis EV in the Indian market at a starting price of Rs. 17.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The Korean carmaker is ready to expand its portfolio in the country with the introduction of multiple new models, including a new compact electric SUV, a generation update of existing SUVs, a new 7-seater SUV and more. In this article, we will look at the upcoming Kia cars in the next 2 years.
1. Kia Syros EV
Expected to go on sale in the coming months, the Syros EV was recently spotted testing in India for the first time. The launch of the all-electric Syros has already been confirmed by the Korean carmaker, and it will be the brand’s second mass-market electric car after the Carens Clavis EV.
In terms of design, we expect minimal changes, including a new set of alloy wheels and some EV-specific badging. The Syros EV is expected to get two battery pack options with a maximum claimed range of around 400 kilometres on a single charge.

2. New-Gen Kia Seltos
Internally codenamed SP3i, Kia will debut the new Seltos globally by the end of 2025, and we expect it to arrive on Indian shores sometime next year, i.e. 2026. With the second-generation model, the Korean carmaker will introduce a new strong-hybrid powertrain, along with the familiar petrol and diesel engine options.
The hybrid Seltos is expected to use the familiar 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with the strong hybrid setup. In addition to this, the upcoming SUV will get an all-new design language, along with refreshed interiors and more features.
3. Next-Gen Sonet
The new-gen Sonet is in the development phase, and it is expected to launch in the Indian market sometime in 2027. While the details of the new model are scarce at the moment, it will likely feature a new exterior design, along with fresh interiors with a more premium appeal.
Kia will most likely add a bunch of new features to the next-gen Sonet, in line with the latest Syros. The sub-4-meter SUV will continue to be powered by the familiar 1.2-litre petrol, 1.0-litre tGDi petrol and 1.5-litre CRDi diesel engines.

4. Kia 7-Seater Hybrid SUV
Reportedly, Kia is working on a new 7-seater hybrid SUV, specifically developed for the Indian market. Internally codenamed MQ4i, it will be based on the Sorento SUV sold in overseas markets. Scheduled to go on sale in the year 2027, the Kia hybrid 7-seater SUV is expected to use a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with a strong hybrid setup, which will be shared with the next-gen Seltos. The upcoming 7-seater hybrid SUV will be positioned above the Seltos in the brand’s line-up, rivalling the likes of Mahindra XUV700 and Tata Safari.
