The mass-market electric vehicle segment is set for a rapid expansion in the coming years. All the top car manufacturers, including Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra, Tata Motors, Kia, Hyundai and Honda, are working on new EVs for the Indian market. Let’s look at the upcoming EVs from top brands in the coming years.
1. Maruti Suzuki

The e Vitara is scheduled for a launch in the Indian market in December this year. Maruti Suzuki’s first EV was first showcased at the 2025 Auto Expo earlier this year, and its production has already commenced at the brand’s Gujarat-based manufacturing facility. As per the information available, it will be available in two battery pack options, i.e. 49 kWh and 61 kWh, with a claimed range of around 500 kilometres on a single charge.

2. Mahindra
Mahindra will launch a new 7-seater electric SUV next year. The XEV 7e will be the first mass-market 7-seater electric car in India. It will be based on the INGLO platform, sharing the 59 kWh and 79 kWh battery pack options with the BE 6 and XEV 9e. The cabin layout will be familiar to the XEV 9e with a triple screen setup.

In addition to this, the BE Rall-E is also on the cards for next year. It will be the rugged off-road version of the BE 6, with tweaked exterior design, off-road spec bumpers and tyres. It will most likely get AWD capabilities, using two electric motors.
3. Hyundai
The Korean carmaker will launch an all-new compact electric SUV in the Indian market in 2027. It will be designed and engineered specifically for the Indian market and is expected to be based on the Inster EV, which is sold in international markets. The EV will be based on the E-GMP (K) platform, rivalling the likes of the Tata Punch. In terms of features, it will be quite loaded with additions like Level 2 ADAS, OTA updates and more.

In addition to this, two more EVs are reportedly in the pipeline, which could be the all-electric version of the Grand i10 Nios and Venue, taking on the likes of Tata Tiago EV and Nexon EV.

4. Kia
Expected to go on sale in early 2026, the Syros EV was spotted testing in India for the first time in August this year. The launch of the all-electric Syros has already been confirmed by the Korean carmaker, and it will be the brand’s second mass-market electric car after the Carens Clavis EV.

In terms of design, we expect minimal changes, including a new set of alloy wheels and some EV-specific badging. The Syros EV is expected to get two battery pack options with a maximum claimed range of around 400 kilometres on a single charge.
5. Tata Motors
Tata Motors is currently leading the EV segment in the Indian market. The Sierra EV will be the next electric car launch from the Indian carmaker, which is expected to go on sale in January 2026. It will likely share the battery packs with the Harrier EV, however, nothing can be confirmed as of now.

Apart from this, the Avinya range of EVs is also in the pipeline. Based on the Gen 3 skateboard electric architecture, the new Avinya brand will be launched in 2027. As per the reports, a total of 5 models could be a part of the new Avinya range, including a coupe crossover named Avinya X, which was showcased in concept form at the 2025 Auto Expo earlier this year.
6. Honda
Honda has confirmed a new electric SUV for the Indian market at the ongoing Japan Mobility Show 2025. The 0 Series SUV will go on sale sometime next year, and it will be sold in the country via the CBU route. The Honda EV will be positioned in the premium electric car segment, with an expected battery pack size between 80 kWh and 100 kWh.

The India-bound Honda 0 Alpha concept has also been revealed at the motor show. It will be the entry-level model in the 0 Series line-up and is expected to be launched in 2027 in the domestic market. The EV SUV will be manufactured locally, rivalling the likes of Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, Hyundai Creta Electric, and Mahindra BE 6. It will likely get a battery pack of around 65 kWh-75 kWh capacity.
