TVS Orbiter is packed with features and is equipped with a 3.1 kWh battery that delivers an IDC-tested range of 158 km

TVS Motor Company has today announced the launch of a brand new electric scooter, the Orbiter, which is aimed squarely at buyers in the entry-level space. Launched in Bengaluru at an ex-showroom price of Rs. 99,900 (inclusive of the PM e-Drive scheme), the Orbiter offers a long list of segment-first features and is practical on paper as well.

At the heart of the Orbiter is a 3.1 kWh battery that delivers an IDC-tested range of 158 km between charges. According to TVS, it has focused on providing efficiency with improved aerodynamics and a more stable ride. A segment-first 14-inch front wheel should add further confidence to the rider by offering better grip and control over typical city road conditions.

As we had showed you previously, the TVS Orbiter carries a clean and modern design language with smooth lines taking inspiration from the popular iQube which has been responsible for over 6 lakh unit sales already. A long flat-form seat stretches to 845 mm making space for both rider and pillion while a straight 290 mm footboard should elevate comfort and legroom as well as improve its utility factor.

Under the seat lies a cavernous storage area of 34 litres which is said to be big enough to hold two helmets. Just as with modern TVS offerings, the Orbiter is loaded with connected features through TVS’s mobile app. Riders can monitor battery charge, odometer readings and even locate their scooter remotely. Safety-oriented functions include crash and fall alerts, anti-theft tracking, geo-fencing and time fencing.

It also gets turn-by-turn navigation, incoming call display and over-the-air software updates. On the road, riders will be able to switch between Eco and Power modes with regenerative braking available in both to stretch range. Cruise control and hill hold assist – typically features reserved for premium two-wheelers  – make their debut in this category with the Orbiter.

The Orbiter boasts a ground clearance of 169 mm, LED headlamp with integrated indicators, edge-to-edge rear combination lamps and a USB charging port. The upright handlebar design is said to improve ergonomics. Colour options include Neon Sunburst, Stratos Blue, Lunar Grey, Stellar Silver, Cosmic Titanium, and Martian Copper.

The zero-emission scooter competes directly with the Ola S1X, Vida VX2 and base variants of Bajaj Chetak and it will help appeal to a wider range of consumers considering its price point.
