Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella gets two lithium-iron phosphate battery options with a certified driving range of up to 543 km
Toyota Kirloskar Motor has entered into India’s battery electric passenger vehicle space with the debut of the Urban Cruiser Ebella. Bookings for the Urban Cruiser Ebella have commenced already while official pricing details will be revealed at a later date. Co-developed with Suzuki, the Urban Cruiser Ebella is manufactured at Suzuki Motor Gujarat’s facility in Gujarat and underpinned by a dedicated electric vehicle architecture.
The Heartect-e platform enables extensive sharing of critical components such as batteries, electronics and electrical systems helping optimise development and overall production. In terms of size, the electric SUV measures around 4,285 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width and 1,640 mm in height, supported by a 2,700 mm wheelbase.
The electric powertrain lineup comprises two lithium-iron phosphate battery options – a 49 kWh pack and a larger 61 kWh unit. Both variants employ a single electric motor with front-wheel-drive configuration while the higher capacity battery delivers 128 kW of power and 189 Nm of torque. Toyota has quoted an ARAI-certified driving range of up to 543 km for the 61 kWh version. Both AC charging setups and CCS2 DC fast chargers are compatible.

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella follows Toyota’s ‘Urban Tech’ styling philosophy and is more of an evolution compared to the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. Visual highlights include a hammerhead-inspired front design, sleek LED lighting elements, aerodynamic surfacing, dual-tone exterior colour options and 18-inch alloy wheels. The SUV maintains an upright stance too as its sibling.
The interior features a dual-screen digital layout comprising a 10.25-inch instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Additional amenities are ventilated front seats, a panoramic roof, ambient lighting with 12 selectable colours, sliding and reclining rear seats, wireless phone charging and a JBL premium audio system.

The SUV is equipped with seven airbags, a high-tensile body structure, a 360-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS and it will be available in an expansive range with prices probably starting around Rs. 17 lakh (ex-showroom). Driver assistance features include adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
Alongside the product, Toyota is strengthening its electric ownership ecosystem. The Urban Cruiser Ebella comes with an 8-year battery warranty, Battery-as-a-Service options and an assured buyback programme. To support consumers, Toyota has prepared more than 500 BEV-enabled service outlets and trained over 2,500 technicians across the country.
