In the Adult Occupant Protection, Toyota Innova HyCross earned 30.47 out of 32 points and in Child Occupant Protection, it scored 45 out of 49

The Toyota Innova HyCross has secured a full five-star rating under the Bharat NCAP crash safety program with appreciable results in both adult and child protection categories. In the Adult Occupant Protection assessment, the MPV earned 30.47 out of a possible 32 points. For Child Occupant Protection, it scored 45 out of 49.

These scores place the HyCross among the highest rated vehicles tested under the Indian protocol so far. Toyota’s modular TNGA-C platform which underpins the model appears to have played a key role in achieving these figures. The Innova HyCross’s five-star Bharat NCAP rating is backed by a comprehensive set of standard safety features across key occupant zones.

Tested models included the petrol GX 8-seater along with the hybrid VX 8-seater and ZX 7-seater trims. In the event of a frontal impact, both driver and front passenger benefit from standard airbags, belt pre-tensioners and load-limiters though rear seatbelt aids are absent and there are no knee airbags. Side protection features include curtain airbags covering all three rows.

Child safety provisions include ISOFIX mounts at the outboard rear seats but the setup does not offer integrated child restraint systems or ISOFIX access at the front. A manual airbag cut-off is provided for the front passenger. Safety assist technologu extends to electronic stability control (ESC), pedestrian protection systems compliant with AIS-100 and seatbelt reminders for all three seating rows.

In Adult Occupant Protection, 14.47 points in the frontal offset deformable barrier test were gained. Both driver and front passenger received ‘adequate’ chest protection ratings while the driver’s left tibia was also rated ‘adequate’. All other body areas were marked ‘good’. The side impact test yielded a full 16 out of 16 with ‘good’ protection recorded for every body part and an ‘Ok’ score was assigned in the side pole impact assessment.
