The Toyota Innova Hycross became the best-selling hybrid model in FY2025; 26.8% of the total sales came from hybrid vehicles

Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM) is leading the hybrid bandwagon in the Indian market, with over 80,000 strong hybrid cars sold in FY2025. This accounts for more than 79% market share of the total hybrid car sales in the country. The Japanese carmaker’s 26.8% of the total sales came from the hybrid vehicle portfolio, which includes four models, i.e. Innova Hycross, Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Camry and Vellfire.

With no EVs in its line-up, the petrol powertrain has the biggest share of 38.6% in the overall sales in FY2025, while the diesel’s share stood at 25.6%. The CNG fuel option contributed 9.1% to the brand’s overall sales, with 28,089 units in the bag.

Talking about hybrid vehicle sales, the Innova Hycross stood at the top spot by selling a total of 53,005 units, which makes it the best-selling hybrid car in the Indian market in FY2025. The Innova Hycross is followed by the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, posting sales of 26,834 units. The Hyryder became the second best-selling hybrid model in the country. Other hybrid models, including Camry and Vellfire, contributed 1,865 and 1,155 units, respectively, to Toyota’s total hybrid vehicle sales.

The Glanze, Hyryder and Taisor are the major contributors to the petrol powertrain numbers. On the other hand, the majority of diesel fuel sales came from Innova Crysta and Fortuner, followed by Hilux and LC300. CNG fuel sales were driven by Glanze, Taisor, Rumion and Urban Cruiser Hyryder, contributing 28,089 units to the overall numbers.

Overall, 82,848 hybrid cars were sold by Toyota in FY2025, which is the highest for any manufacturer in India. The total petrol sales stood at 1,19,415 units, while the diesel contributed 79,156 units.

The Urban Cruiser EV made its first public appearance in concept form at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. It is Toyota’s version of the Maruti e-Vitara which goes on sale in Sep 2025. The all-electric Toyota SUV will launch around Dec 2025 in the Indian market. The Japanese brand has already unveiled the production-spec Urban Cruiser EV in several global markets.
