This article lists the complete details of top 5 compact SUV models getting cheaper after the introduction of GST 2.0 in India
Post the introduction of GST 2.0, several leading automakers such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Kia have slashed the prices of their entire product range in the Indian market. This includes hatchbacks, sedans, compact SUVs and midsize SUVs among other popular models. In this piece, we will talk about the top 5 compact SUVs which have become cheaper after the recent roll out of GST reforms.
1. Maruti Brezza
Though it measures under 4 metres in length but comes with a 1.5L petrol engine, hence Maruti Brezza didn’t qualify for maximum benefits under the revised GST rates. It has been placed in the 40 percent GST slab as compared to the earlier 45 percent (28 Percent GST + 17 Percent Cess) and therefore, it has become economical than before but not as much as the other sub 4 metre cars in the segment with engine lesser than 1200cc capacity.
Maruti Brezza is presently priced in a bracket of Rs 8.69-13.98 lakh (ex-showroom) with 45 percent GST. However, from Sep 22, it is expected to be more affordable by Rs 30,000-48,000, depending upon the variant due to lower tax rate of 40 percent. The Brezza could be priced in a range of Rs 8.39-13.50 lakh (ex-showroom) post the GST revision.

2. Hyundai Venue
Hyundai Venue gets the maximum benefits from GST 2.0 as it gets a price cut of up to Rs 1.32 lakh in the Indian market. Both the petrol (1.0L and 1.2L) and diesel (1.5L) variants of the SUV have undergone significant price reduction due to the revised GST rates. Earlier, Hyundai Venue petrol and diesel were taxed at 29 percent (28 Percent GST + 1 Percent Cess) and 31 Percent (28 Percent GST + 3 Percent Cess), respectively, but now are placed in 18 percent GST slab.
Hyundai Venue comes in a price range of Rs 7.94-13.38 lakh (ex-showroom). However, post GST 2.0, it will be sold between Rs 7.26-12.05 lakh (ex-showroom) in the country. Hence, as we can see the range-topping diesel variant gets cheaper by 1.32 lakh while the base variant price is reduced by Rs 68k.
