Automakers in India are lining up a slew of new SUV launches for 2026 and here we have picked the top 15

The SUV segment will see a plethora of action in the 2026 calendar year as new models across different segments and price brackets are waiting to arrive and here we have curated the top 15 for your better understanding:

1. Kia Sorento Hybrid:

In the due course of this calendar year, Kia India is expected to introduce the global Sorento in its hybrid guise. It will be packed with features and technologies and will be powered by a 1.6-litre turbo four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor and a 6-speed automatic transmission producing 227 hp.

2. Mahindra XUV 7XO:

The rebranded XUV 700 will be more upmarket and feature-rich than the outgoing model as it will gain 540-degree camera, ADAS visualisation, triple screens and plenty more taking inspiration from the recently launched XEV 9S inside and out.

3. Tata Punch Facelift:

The facelifted version of the ICE Punch is on its way sooner rather than later taking inspiration from its electric sibling in terms of design while the cabin will boast new bits and pieces shared with the latest Nexon. However, no mechanical changes are likely.

4. Tata Harrier & Safari Petrol:

The prices of the Tata Harrier and Safari petrol versions will be announced soon and these models utilise a new TGDI 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 170 PS and 280 Nm. Besides new trims, Tata has introduced new features as well.

On January 26, 2026 Renault will launch the new-gen Duster and it will likely be powered by two turbo petrol engines initially. The midsize SUV based on the CMF-B platform gets India-specific exterior changes and it will get a tech-loaded interior boasting Level 2 ADAS, large touchscreen, digital cluster, panoramic sunroof and more.

6. Maruti Suzuki e Vitara:

The prices of Maruti Suzuki’s first EV for India will be announced soon. Equipped with either a 49 kWh or a 61 kWh battery pack, its production has already commenced at SMC’s Gujarat plant. Underpinned by the Heartect-e platform, it will give rise to a Toyota sibling and a midsize e-MPV counterpart down the line.

7. Skoda Kushaq Facelift:

The mid-cycle update for the Skoda Kushaq will arrive in the coming weeks with cosmetic revisions and the inclusion of new features inside the cabin. But the powertrain and gearbox options will be carried over as the familiar 1.5L turbo petrol and 1.0L turbo petrol engines will continue, paired with manual and automatic transmission options.

8. Mahindra Scorpio N Facelift:

Spotted testing multiple times already, the facelifted Mahindra Scorpio N will get subtle exterior enhancements but the interior could be the highlight as it could adapt a larger touchscreen, revised dashboard and centre console amongst other updates.

The same can be said for the Thar three-door which interestingly received updates only a few months ago. This time around, it could gain visual revisions in line with the bigger Thar Roxx.

10. Nissan Tekton:

In February 2025, Nissan will bring in its Tekton based on the same platform as the upcoming Renault Duster. It will be heavily influenced by the design of the global-spec Patrol and will feature a muscular styling. It will spawn a three-row sibling next FY.

11. Tata Sierra EV:

The electric version of the Sierra is just around the corner as it will be launched in the coming months with two battery choices enabling a claimed driving range of more than 500 km between charges. The first model from Avinya flagship range is also bound to arrive in late 2026.

12. Tata Punch EV Facelift:

Besides Sierra EV and Avinya, Tata has already confirmed the launch of the new Punch EV. Carrying the momentum created by the existing model which is one of the best-selling EVs in India, the facelift will get customary visual and cabin updates to stretch the lifespan of the existing generation.

13. Maruti Suzuki Fronx Flex Fuel:

The flex fuel version of the Fronx could be introduced sometime this year. The compact SUV coupe will more likely receive new equipment and tech including ADAS seen in Southeast Asian markets.

14. Volkswagen Taigun Facelift:

Just as the Skoda Kushaq, the Taigun is also set to get a mid-life makeover in the coming months. Both SUVs have been spied together multiple times as well indicating that their launch timelines won’t be too far apart.

15. Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV:

The Urban Cruiser BEV will make its way to showrooms this year and it will have a lot in common with the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. The overall styling will be different from its cousin by the interior bits and battery packs will be shared with them.
