The table of top 10 compact SUVs in Sep 2025 saw Tata Nexon finishing ahead of Punch, Fronx, Venue and Brezza in India
It is no secret that the compact SUV segment in India continues to draw customers’ interest and the month of September 2025 was no different. Tata Nexon once again took the lead, selling 22,573 units, nearly double the figure compared to the same period last year and it was also the most sold passenger vehicle in the country.
The SUV’s growth of 97 per cent year-on-year indicates its enduring appeal highlighted by regular feature updates, safety credentials and competitive pricing along with the expansive variant levels. The Tata Punch recorded 15,891 units to finish in the second position – up 16 per cent compared to the corresponding period in 2024.
Its compact footprint and easy manoeuvrability have made it particularly attractive to first-time SUV owners and it continues to be one of the main sources of volume sales every month for the homegrown manufacturer. The Maruti Suzuki Fronx remained largely steady in third with a domestic dispatch tally of 13,767 units.

This led to a minor decline of 1 per cent year-on-year. Hyundai Venue followed in the fourth position with a total of 11,484 units – growing 12 per cent. The next-gen Venue is slated to launch on November 4 with comprehensive updates inside and out and it will continue to use the familiar 1.2L NA petrol, the 1.5L diesel and the 1.0L turbo diesel engines.
The Maruti Suzuki Brezza experienced a notable drop recording a total of 10,173 units – down 34 per cent from September 2024. Next up, the Kia Sonet sold 9,200 units last month with a volume drop of 13 per cent while the Mahindra XUV 3XO held steady at 9,032 units in the seventh position as against 9,000 units with a near flat growth.

Hyundai Exter’s sales fell 18 per cent to 5,643 units. The Skoda Kylaq garnered a total of 4,398 units to finish ninth in the top 10 compact SUV sales charts for September 2025. Toyota Taisor closed the top ten with 2,297 units – up slightly by 1 per cent.
