In December 2025, Maruti Suzuki Baleno finished on top ahead of Fronx, Nexon, Dzire and Swift
The final month of the 2025 calendar year saw Maruti Suzuki utterly dominating the top ten sales standings by featuring seven models while Tata Motors and Mahindra continued to strengthen their stronghold in the SUV space. Leading the table was the Maruti Suzuki Baleno which emerged as the highest-selling car in December 2025 with 22,108 units.
It registered a massive 143 per cent year-on-year growth. The premium hatchback’s appreciable performance was due to the steady retail momentum, wide variant choice and popularity in all market tiers. At second was the Maruti Suzuki Fronx with 20,706 units by nearly doubling its December 2024 tally.
The crossover’s SUV-inspired styling combined with compact dimensions has helped it carve a unique identity and it could become the first Maruti Suzuki model to receive flex-fuel treatment this year. The Tata Nexon secured third place with 19,375 units – maintaining its position as one of India’s most consistent compact SUVs.

The Nexon’s appeal lies in its balanced package of safety, design and powertrain choices including petrol, diesel and electric variants. Fourth place went to the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, which recorded 19,072 units while the Maruti Suzuki Swift followed in the fifth position with 18,767 units. It is worth noting that the Dzire was the most sold passenger vehicle in 2025.
The UV-heavy middle of the table featured the Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Ertiga – selling 17,704 units and 16,586 units respectively. The Brezza’s stable numbers point to sustained demand while the Ertiga MPV remains a favourite among family buyers and fleet operators alike. Tata’s Punch followed with 15,980 units and it will receive a facelift next week.

Rounding off the Top 10 was the Mahindra Scorpio, which posted 15,885 units. The SUV is also set to gain a mid-life update in the coming months while the Vision S concept based mini Scorpio N is also under development based on the NU_IQ monocoque architecture.
