India’s car market saw a festive surge in October 2025 pushing passenger vehicle sales to new highs. With manufacturers ramping up output to meet seasonal demand, total industry sales climbed to 5.49 lakh units – a jump of 10.74 per cent compared to October last year. Sitting firmly at the top, Maruti Suzuki posted sales of 2,38,515 units during the month – its best performance this financial year.

The company clocked a 17.4 per cent rise year-on-year as models such as the Baleno, Fronx, and Brezza continued their winning run in the domestic market. Maruti recorded its highest ever export tally in a quarter of over 1.10 lakh units in Q2 FY26. Tata Motors maintained its second place finish with 73,877 units sold last month.

The numbers led to a year-on-year increase of just over 12 per cent. The Nexon and Punch continue to anchor Tata’s volumes while its expanding EV range including the Tiago EV and Punch EV contributed meaningfully to total numbers. The Navratri to Diwali festive period proved to be a record-breaking spell for Tata Motors with the company dispatching more than one lakh vehicles in just a month with a 33 per cent increase.
